In the Dons Prepare workshop series, you'll learn the dos and don'ts of applying to college, directly from the people who will be reading your application — your admission counselors! Our counselors have years of experience reading thousands of applications, and they're ready to share their best tips with you.

These workshops are applicable to any college/university (not just USF), so just show up ready to learn and ask questions! If you can't make it, we'll send out the recordings later.

September 16 - Dons Prepare I: The Interview
If offered, interviews can be a great way to get to know your admission counselor. This workshop will help you tackle the interview like a pro, letting your authentic strengths shine through.

September 23 - Dons Prepare II: The Common App
One app, many schools. Learn our best tips and tricks to building your college list, navigating the platform, and submitting your application.

September 30 - Dons Prepare III: The Essay

What should I write about? What should I not write about? Learn about how to choose a topic, what topics to avoid, and our advice for your personal statement and essays.

October 7 - Dons Prepare IV: Financial Aid
Can I afford to go to a private university? What kinds of aid am I eligible for? Do I have to pay it back? Hear directly from our Office of Financial Aid to learn about your options — you may be surprised!

October 14 - Dons Prepare V: Choosing a Major
Do I have to declare a major when I apply to college? What if I'm undecided? How does my major impact my future job? Learn what to consider when picking a major.
