The USF Office of Student Financial Services consist of financial aid, student employment, and student account administrators that help students achieve their educational potential by awarding and dispersing monetary resources and coordinating billing and tuition services. So it's not just financial aid, it's a team of other offices within USF. To support our students.

Good morning
This is what we're going to cover today. We're going to go over the cost of attendance applying for aid financially, awards explained what happens after you apply and additional tips and any questions that you may have.
Already, so now we're going to look at the 2020-2021 cost of attendance unpacked. So this is for undergraduate students. We're going to 1st talk about direct costs and indirect cost of the cost of attendance, so direct cost is what is directly hitting the student account. What you are being built for by USF indirect costs are not billed to your student account.
But we do know that these are expenses that the student will have during the twenty 2021 academic year, so the direct costs would be tuition and fees and the cost that we're displaying here is for the year. So for fall and for spring. So tuition and fees for fall and Spring $52,482. The on campus room and board $15,990.00. Now the estimate that we're giving for room and board.
Is based off of a student in a double room, so if you're doing a triple room, that's one way to save on that expense. This is just an estimate based off of double room.
For indirect cost we are looking at books and supplies for Year 1600.
Transportation 1200 and personal expenses 2600.
Now most of you have already done your eight applications, but I just wanted to touch on the types of applications that are do when they're do. Which applications students should be filing so all eight applications are available as of October 1st, so set your calendars now to remind you that every October 1st, that's when your nude 8 application comes in an you do need to complete your eight application every year. There is the FAFSA application.
Dorothy Davidson
11:06:56 AM
Personal expenses and transportation are indirect costs.
And those who apply would be US citizens, an eligible noncitizens. We also have the California DREAM Act application. This is for California residents, an undocumented daca students. There is the CSS S profile and this is for out-of-state undocumented students, so again, a lot of you have already done your eight application, but this is just a reminder of the applications that are available that they are due every year, so make sure that you do complete those so.
Our office can continue to offer you financial aid.
Alrighty, so first, we're going to talk about federal aid and federal grants. So for federal grants, there is the federal Pell Grant and eligibility for federal Pell Grant. Is it the need based aid and the eligibility is determined based on the expected family contribution from the fact that the annual Maximum Award for the 2021 is 6345. And again, this is for fall and spring semester.
The federal supplemental opportunity grant the FAC OG grant the eligibility for FSU G Grant is awarded based on need. An pill recipients are eligible for this award. The maximum award for Efisio G would be 4000 per academic year.
Now we'll look at the federal aid for types of loans. So there are three types of federal loans. There is the direct subsidized loan. There is no interest accruing on this loan for the student.
Ella Weber
11:08:19 AM
We heard triple rooms were not available this year- can you clarify?
Well, they are enrolled at least half time.
Next is the federal unsubsidized loan. This loan there is interest accruing while the student is enrolled.
There also is the direct parent plus loan. Now you did not see this on your offer.
Dorothy Davidson
11:08:46 AM
Housing would need to be contacted regarding if triple rooms would be available.
Shary Bazofti Akhavan bazofti
11:09:07 AM
If you have to submit extra materials for your FAFSA, would the deadline be on May 1st?
That came into your family, however, the apparent if the parent chooses can apply for a parent plus loan. So the Parent plus loan is a loan that is in the parents name and they would apply for it on studentaid.gov. So these are what the current interest rates are for the federal loans for the federal subsidized and unsubsidized loan. That's four point, five 3% for the Parent, plus loan 7.0.
8% this is the interest rate for the 2019-2020 8 years. The new interest rates will be available soon when those are out. Will be able to share that information with you.
There are federal loan limits, so we do want to make sure that families are aware of that. This slide maybe a little harder to see, so to see the federal loan limits, you can view that on studentaid.gov. You can use a search engine to type in loan limits, and this is the information that's going to display for you. We have a section for dependent students and independent students, so for dependant students first year.
Dorothy Davidson
11:09:56 AM
You can ask admissions to extend your deposit deadline if you have special circumstances.
Undergrad the annual loan limit is going to be 5500 for the 2nd year, 6500 for 3rd year an beyond 7500.
Freya Morel-Seytoux
11:10:11 AM
Does interest acrue immediate for Parent Plus Loans?
For our independence students at 9500 for first year, second year is 10,530 year and beyond 12,500.
Dorothy Davidson
11:10:45 AM
Interest accrues at the time the loan is disbursed.
Ash Lumpkin
11:10:51 AM
Do you have to be a dependent to qualify for the parent plus loan?
Four federal work study in campus jobs. Some of you may have seen that on your award offer. There was a federal work study award or a campus job award offer. The students would need to accept this award offer if they would like to begin the process of applying for a federal work study or campus based job. Federal work study and work award provides part time jobs for our undergraduate and graduate students with financial need.
Dorothy Davidson
11:11:13 AM
You do have to be a dependent to qualify for the Parent Plus Loan.
Mateo Rodriguez
11:11:21 AM
We have not received a financial offer, when can we expect to receive this in myUSF account?
The program encourages community service work and work related in your field of study. To receive funds that you will need to be awarded work, study and secured job. These funds you have to earn them so they're not going to go directly towards your tuition bill. So when you're trying to see what your gap is, what still needs to be covered? After all, eight has been applied to a student's bill. You don't want to include the federal work study or campus based job.
The student is allowed to work up to the Ward offer that we give them for the federal work, study or campus based job, but it is not a.
It is not something that is applied to the bill, so we just want to make sure that's clear to our students and families. The pros to participating in federal work, study and campus based job to earn supplemental income to offset other educational expenses. Working hours works with students class schedule or putting students first, gaining valuable work experience while working on campus.
See the latest job listings we have provided the link here for you, so this is where students can go to see what types of jobs are available on campus.
I want to talk a little bit about state aid so stayed for California. Is Cal Grant an this application for Cal Grant is available again October 1st. The deadline to apply is March 2nd so we have passed the deadline for the Cal Grant application.
Dorothy Davidson
11:12:38 AM
Mateo, please contact financial aid on Monday. We are sending out award offers every week. If you have been accepted and have submitted a FAFSA you should have received your financial aid offer.
Amin Joseph
11:12:45 AM
Hi, how much would someone save if they decided to go with a triple room rather than double
But what we want to talk about is what types of awards are available for students who receive Cal Grant. So there is going to be two types of state aid. There is the entitlement award, and this is for high school and transfer students. And there is the competitive awards. So for Cal Grant a That is for $9084 and that is to go towards tuition and fees.
For Cal Grant be first year they get a Access Award and that is 1672. This award does not get applied to tuition and fees. It goes directly to the student for Cal Grant be second, 3rd and 4th year. The students would receive the tuition and fees portion the 9084 and then they also receive their access award and again access award goes directly to the student. It is not applied towards tuition.
And feeds one thing we want to note is at the high school GPA verification is is going to be completed by USF once the student has completed 24 units at USF, so otherwise this is going to be the high school submitting this information or the previous institution they would be verifying GPA on behalf of the student. the Cal Grant funding is limited to 4 academic years in order to graduate in four years.
You must complete 16 or more units per semester, so just taking 12 units per semester will not get you to graduate on time.
Alrighty, so next step is institutional eight and first we're going to talk about the Merit Award and scholarships.
Dorothy Davidson
11:14:33 AM
Amin, housing information can be found here: https://www.usfca.edu/housing
Bryn Harris
11:14:43 AM
are you an out of state student for all 4 years?
Both of these are determined at the time of admission, and unfortunately there's no appeal process for merit aid and scholarships when we're looking at the University tuition grant. This grant is need based aid. The need is determined by the information provided on the fasfa. the California DREAM Act, or the CSS S profile.
Now we'll talk about private loans so private loans they are not federal loan. So if the family chooses to not pursue federal loan for a parent plus loan, or maybe the parent was not approved for a parent plus loan, so they need to seek additional options to cover the tuition or other parts of the cost of attendance. Families can consider private loans. Private loans are in the student's name. The student.
Dorothy Davidson
11:15:40 AM
Bryan, we are a private institution and the tuition rate is the same for both in state or out of state. If you are out of state you will not be eligible for the Cal Grant as that is only for CA residents.
Stefan del Puerto
11:15:46 AM
if we were not offered a work study can we apply for it?
May or may not need a cosigner. To obtain a private loan, we created a charge just to show you the difference. The comparison between federal, student and parent loans versus private student loans so that information is available to you. Some things to point out about. Private loans as far as interest, it can be a variable or fixed interest rate depends on the lender. Private loans require payments while in school.
But some do allow deferment, so federal loans for the student allow payments to be deferred if the student is at least enrolled halftime. Private loans don't always offer that. So if you're pursuing a private loan, you really want to make sure to see if that is an option. If that's something that you that you you do need while in school. Also, it often requires established credit or a cosigner so we know a lot of our students coming out of high school likely.
Dorothy Davidson
11:16:43 AM
Stefan, you do not qualify for federal work study but you can apply for institutional employment. You are still eligible to work on campus.
Don't have established credit, so the need for a cosigner will be there and then repayment plans. They vary by the lender, so you want to also see the loans that you're applying for. Do your research before you start applying to know whether or not this fits yours your family need.
Liv Nguyen
11:17:07 AM
What is the loan limit for the parent plus loan? Are these subsidized?
Let's see and we also have a link on our website to help you navigate searching for private loan lenders. So if you go onto your my USF search private loan lenders, there's a whole page dedicated to that to help families navigate to make the best choice.
Alrighty, so now we're going to talk about outside scholarships.
I'm so winning scholarship takes both luck and strategy. Private scholarships can help you reduce your net cost of your education. An limit student loan debt. So on our website we do have on the my USF section for outside scholarships, but also on the admissions page. There's also a section for outside scholarships. what I always tell students is you treat outside private scholarships like a part time job when you're hunting for them.
So you need to put in a few hours a week into it. I also recommend creating a special email just for scholarship searching when you create these profiles on these various websites, you're going to get a lot of emails coming through, so students right now are already receiving a lot of emails from their colleges, so this will separate and they're not receiving all the email spam coming in. And when they are dedicating time and work into looking for private scholarships, they have that designated email too.
To to proceed. So students ever have questions regarding private scholarships or if they know they have one and it's going to be arriving to our campus, we just encourage that you that you email our office so we can be on the lookout for that.
Already, so after you apply so completing outstanding requirements, it's really important that you monitor your USF self service portal to complete any outstanding financial aid requirements. Financially, package is only an estimate and not finalized until completion of all outstanding financial aid requirements, so completing the application is step one and many times there's additional documentation that our office still needs in order to finalize.
Dorothy Davidson
11:19:10 AM
Liv, a parent can only apply for the Plus up to the cost of attendance and remaining eligibility that has not been covered by the other aid offered. For example, if the budget is $80K and you have been offered $50K in aid, the parent can only apply for $30. They are not subsidized and the interest accrues at the point of disbursement.
Jenny Herrera
11:19:31 AM
How do you accept the grants and/or loans?
Dorothy Davidson
11:19:37 AM
Jenny,
Your aid offer. So first is you could be selected for a process called verification in. In that case we may need you to submit tax documentation to our office. You may need to do a loan entrance counseling for your student loan or a master promissory note. So you went on to your my USF self service portal. You accepted your aid but you haven't done the additional steps in order for us to complete our certification process. There are times where we need to collect high school diploma.
Dorothy Davidson
11:19:48 AM
To accept your loan offers, you will need to log in to myUSF and review through your Student Self Service portal.
1. Go to your financial aid awards online, via myUSF.
2. Navigate to the student self-service portal and click the Financial Aid tab. Navigate to your Financial Aid Awards page to view your estimated cost of attendance and offered financial aid awards.
3. Review your financial aid award information and make your selection to accept or decline.
Miray Vural
11:19:55 AM
Does USF provides any scholarships?
And transcript or confirming selective service or citizenship confirmation. So anytime our office needs something in order to move forward with your file, you are going to get notified of that need. And if you can please as soon as you can get those documents into our office so we can begin processing.
Dorothy Davidson
11:20:05 AM
Miray,
Dorothy Davidson
11:20:34 AM
any institutional grants or scholarships should have been offered to you at the point of your admissions.
Already, so next we're going to explain a special circumstances and appeals. So at USF we understand that life happens especially in this current climate. So we want to make sure that our students and their families are aware of what the appeal process is, so there could be appeals for different reasons, either a family member is unemployed, there was a a reduction, Indiana family income one time.
Nikki Zelaya Morales
11:20:41 AM
The Direct Parent PLUS Loan is just for U.S. citizens right? My parents are not U,S, citizens.
Are non reoccuring payments or income, high medical or dental expenses or death or separation of a parent so the very first step when you're wanting to inquire about either special circumstance or a or a financial aid appeal you would like to submit. First thing you want to do is contact the financial aid office so you can do so by calling us or you can email us directly so we can review what your circumstances are to identify.
If you're eligible to submit a financial aid appeal, and if you are eligible, what's the required documentation? We're going to need for you to provide? I'm at that point. Our office would then start the appeal process. We would submit a email request to you for you to log on to the my USF self portal and complete that documentation. One important thing is we're getting a lot of emails where we're getting the documentation email to us, but it's really important that.
You contact our office for us to be able to submit that that request to you. We want to make sure that the documentation you are submitting to us is secure, so all of that is done through the self service portal, not through email. So if you can try to hold off on emailing personal information to our to our email and instead allow us to begin that appeal process for you for you to submit needed documentation. I also want to touch on.
Dorothy Davidson
11:22:10 AM
Nikki, the parent plus is for US citizens or eligible non-citizen.
Circumstances where a family member is unemployed or there is a reduction in wages.
Katie Conway
11:22:18 AM
I haven' received a reply from an email sent several days ago to the financial aid office - should i resend?
We would consider the expected family contribution appeal for prolonged income loss. So if you would have just recently had a reduction in income, we are asking that you wait for about 3 months to allow for you to be considered for prolonged income laws for us to reassess your your financial aid as far as merit scholarships, merit scholarships cannot be appealed.
Dorothy Davidson
11:23:14 AM
Katie, please do not resend. It is taking about 3 business days to respond. Thank you for your patience.
And submitting a appeal does not guarantee approval or result in change in financial aid packages. So to find more information about financial aid appeals, we do have a section on our website designated just for appeals, and it breaks down the various appeals that our financial aid office processes, so I would strongly encourage you to go on to that web page and if you feel like you fit the circumstance in one of these appeals, definitely reach out to us so we can begin.
Chatting about your your situation.
Elijah Aneesh
11:23:26 AM
If I'm covered under my parents' health insurance, would that bring down my tuition/fees number?
Alrighty, so next thing that's really important is maintaining and renewing your financial aid. So maintaining your aid in order to maintain your age, you have to be maintaining satisfactory academic progress. So the acronym for that is SAP. So maintaining SAP for an undergrad student means that you need to be meeting a minimum of a 2.0 GPA. Also, your completion rate 67% completion rate.
Dorothy Davidson
11:24:09 AM
Elijah, the tuition and fees would not be reduced. However, your overall bill would be reduced as you can have the health insurance waived.
Cyle Tan
11:24:16 AM
what is the process in order to qualify for federal work study?
So all of the courses that you are attempting are you successfully completing them or not? That's that's what's going to impact your your completion rate and then you can attempt more than 150% of the published program length. Our office reviews SAP once a year, so if a student is finding that they did not do so well in their first semester and E and they would need guidance on.
On preparing for a SAP appeal, we just encourage them to come speak to financial aid. There's a lot of resources that we have on campus to help support students, so we want to make sure that our students are on track that their meeting satisfactory academic progress. That way there is no there. There is no gap in their aid coming in. So if a student is not meeting SAP, they are not eligible to continue to maintain financial aid unless they submit an appeal.
Dorothy Davidson
11:25:04 AM
Cyle, if the federal work study is not listed on your award offer you do not qualify as it is need based. We do have student employment that you can also apply for those jobs so you can work on campus.
The Peel is approved. The people can be denied as well, so it's really important that our students are aware that they need to be maintaining satisfactory academic progress. Also, like I mentioned before, you need to renew your eight application every year. So eight applications begin October 1st. Set those reminders for yourself. Get the application in as soon as possible. That way, once our offices is prepared to submit those aid, renewals were able to do so.
Next up, we want to talk about some additional tips, so these are things to help you.
Siobhan Larkin
11:25:33 AM
What is the hourly wage for the work study jobs? or do they vary?
Dorothy Davidson
11:25:53 AM
Siobhan, they do vary but start at $15.
Did not all related to financially, but they are questions that we see that are common with students, so we're going to review the most up-to-date financial aid awards on your USF self-service. How do you view your award? How do you accept your award? Also, we're going to discuss for authorization, setting up direct deposit, the health insurance waiver, and I'm going to touch on some frequently asked questions.
Bryn Harris
11:26:16 AM
can out of state students be eligible for cal grants?
So understanding you're my USF and student self service. This is an easy guide on how to access your financial aid awards. So this is what your landing page is going to look like.
What you want to do is click the financial aid tab an you want to go to awards.
Once you click awards, you need to click which aid year you're wanting to view. So for you, for you it would be the two thousand 2021 eight year and there's a drop down box for that.
Dorothy Davidson
11:26:54 AM
Bryn, no an out of state student cannot qualify for the cal grant.
Zara Ahmed
11:27:02 AM
is the cal grant already applied in the financial aid package?
Next is when your before you can review your financial aid award offer you first have to click the resources in additional information tab. It's an authorization tab in before you can even review your reward offer, you have to go through the Authorizations. Once you've cleared through the authorizations, then the award offer is going to be available for you to view, so we have a lot of students who get stuck there.
It can't view their accept award offer. They're trying just to bypass the resources and click that. You have to 1st do the resources in additional information and then click except award offer.
Apurva Aluru
11:27:43 AM
I thought triple rooms were no longer being offered due to the Coronavirus, is the price of double rooms decreasing? I know a lot of people were planning to take a triple to save money.
Once you've gone through the resources in additional information, you're able to view accept your award offer. This is what it would look like, and then you're able to accept your awards. As far as student loans, you don't have to accept the loan for the full amount if you don't need the full amount, by all means do not do not do not accept it. You can decline the loans if you wish to do so.
Dorothy Davidson
11:28:04 AM
Apurva, you will need to contact housing to discuss housing options.
And it's one make sure I pointed it out. So you just because it's offered doesn't mean you have to accept and you don't have to accept the full amount if you don't need the full amount, you have the ability on this section to specify the amount that you're wishing to borrow.
Shruti Utekar
11:28:10 AM
By how much does tuition increase per year?
Another important thing I want to touch on is the Ferpa authorization. So we get a lot of parents once the student has started school that Colin asking questions updates on their students account were not able to speak with parents unless the student has authorized parent or set individual to contact our office and speak about their aid package. So for authorization, you decide what information do you want us to share.
Dorothy Davidson
11:28:47 AM
Shruti, it may increase between 1 to 3% or more.
Keegan Atac
11:28:54 AM
Is Cal Grant for Cal residents only?
And who to share the information with? So it's really important that if a student wants to release consent for our office for the registrar, for student accounts or housing to release information that we have that student authorization so for you to update the Ferpa authorization, you go to the my.
Dorothy Davidson
11:29:12 AM
Keegan, the Cal Grant is only for CA residents.
With Self Self Service under personal information. Consent to release information and then the student can choose what information they want to release, so they could just say financial aid. They can Check all the boxes and a parent calls or set individual 'cause there's not going to be any issues with us releasing the information. So please understand that if you contact our office and there is no authorization, you are a parent. If your name is not listed on this form, we're going to ask that you have.
That that either the student call back in or that the student update their authorization to allow us to speak with you.
Taijen Ave-Lallemant
11:30:01 AM
My parents have offered to reimburse me for the classes I pass, but I must make the initial payment. Due to their income I will not qualify for need based grants. With tuition and expenses being ~$70k, given these loan limits, what is the best loan option to cover the full costs?
And next thing I want to talk about is direct deposit. So if you receive a refund in, the refund would be anything after tuition, fees and housing is covered. If there, if there's any extra funds on your account that would be considered a refund back to the student. If you receive a refund, direct deposit is the quickest way to receive your funds. If you do not set up direct deposit. A check is then mailed so really important that if you need the funds immediately that you're being proactive in setting up that direct deposit.
So the online instructions to set up direct deposit, you're going to log on to your my USF. You click the link for student self service. Click on student account link and then direct deposit authorization and then you just enter your bank information. It does take about 5 business days for the count to be to be verified, so really important that you're doing this ahead of time and not waiting the week that we disperse funds for you to then try to update direct deposit so.
Please make sure that you're being proactive in getting that completed.
Already, so next we're going to talk about billing and tuition, so this is again financially does not handle billing intuition. This is handled through our student accounts office, but we do want to talk about some key items that you may not be aware of. So tuition due dates. So for fall that's going to be August 1st for spring semester. That's January 1st for May. I mean for summer. I'm sorry it's May 1st.
Dorothy Davidson
11:31:32 AM
Taijen, you can apply for a private educational loan. The loan would be in your name and your parents would need to be your co-signer. https://myusf.usfca.edu/financial-aid/loans/private-loans
Caden Collins
11:31:43 AM
If USF ends up needing to go online for the first semester, would they still have the full price on tuition or would it lower for the first semester?
I'm the semester payment plan. If you chose that, you would like to participate in the payment plan. There is a $50 enrollment fee per semester. The minimum balance there is a minimum balance to enroll in a payment plan. The due date is the 1st of the month. To enroll, you can do that on your USF self-service under view and pay an if you enroll early. You can enroll for up to four installments.
And for summer time it's the most installments would be 3.
Alrighty, so health insurance waiver.
Dorothy Davidson
11:32:18 AM
Caden, that question cannot be answered at this time. The intent is that USF will start classes on campus.
Katie Conway
11:32:30 AM
I haven't received a reply from the financial aid office for an email sent several days ago - should I resend?
Already so for student, uhm has health insurance. Uh, with their parent they can submit a waiver to have the health insurance fee removed from the account. There is a open enrollment in waiver period for fall and spring. So very critical that if you are, if you do have health insurance that you make sure that you submit the enrollment form during that period or else they're not able to to wave it so.
Dorothy Davidson
11:32:52 AM
Katie, please do not resend. It is taking about 3 business days to respond. Thank you for your patience.
Kristina Ghishan
11:33:05 AM
are classes 4 units each?
For fall semester that would be June 6 through September 1st and for spring semester it is November 25th through February 1st. If you have additional questions regarding the health insurance waiver process you want to direct those questions to health promotion services. We have their direct phone number here. There direct email and then what their website is. So you have that.
And I will go ahead and move on to the next slide, but really important.
Dorothy Davidson
11:33:42 AM
Kristina, depending on what class you take they can vary between 1 to 4 credits.
Alrighty, so next we're gonna just talk about some frequently asked questions and financial aid and then this is already going to be coming to the end of our presentations. Then I will jump on to help dot E answer. The other questions that we have coming through. I see the chat is is very live right now, so let me go ahead and talk about first. What is my family? What is my expected family contribution?
Boris Malykin
11:33:55 AM
What about student loans? What’s the maximum??
So when you completed your your fast for application, you would have received what your expected family contribution was from Fasfa and that is the number that is generated from your aid application. And it's a number that we used to determine what types of aid family would then qualify for. If by no means is the direct amount that you have to pay. This is what helps us understand what types of need based.
Dorothy Davidson
11:34:21 AM
$31,000 is the max direct loan for an undergraduate.
Nikki Zelaya Morales
11:34:29 AM
Is there an annual maximum award for the university tuition grant?
ETA family is able to receive and this number is a result of the information that you put into the aid application. Why does fasfa ask for 2018 return information an not 2019? So in this 2017, 2018 award year, the fast started to request prior prior.
Dorothy Davidson
11:35:16 AM
Nikki, The grants awarded are based on meeting a percentage of your need and USF does not cover full need.
Tax information, so the purpose of this is, you know, everyone's going to have their taxes already completed. Were able to push out a word offer sooner to students who are applying to colleges. This is also why there's a appeal process too. So if your family income from 2018 is different in lower in 2019, or it will be lower in 2020, the financial aid office is able to review students who are qualified for expected family contribution.
Appeals so yes, the fast food does ask for prior prior year. This is to make the 8 application available in October so families can apply early and get answers back from financial aid sooner, but you're definitely able. If you have a special circumstance where family income has been reduced to contact our office to see if you qualify for financial aid appeal. I have not received my financially offer yet. What do I do? If you have done your eight application and there is no award?
Ava Zaron
11:36:16 AM
Hi Dorothy. I looked at the PLUS Loan website, and it was not clear how the amount of the loan would be determined. It seemed to indicate that the amount would be set by the school. Is this correct?
Offer on your account, email our office immediately, so after this email us so we can review to see what the issue is. Sometimes there's a name mismatch or the social was entered incorrectly on the 8 application. So if you do not have an offering you did your eight application. There's something wrong in our office needs to do the research to see so please do not wait. Please email us so we can begin that.
Um next is when do I start repaying my federal student loans?
Dorothy Davidson
11:36:34 AM
Ava, a parent can only apply for the Plus up to the cost of attendance and remaining eligibility that has not been covered by the other aid offered. For example, if the budget is $80K and you have been offered $50K in aid, the parent can only apply for $30. They are not subsidized and the interest accrues at the point of disbursement.
Adam Patino
11:36:58 AM
Are USF merit awards awarded for all 4 years while attending , or only year one?
So for a student you do not begin loan repayment until you've entered your grace period on your student loans, and students enter grace period on their federal loans once they've dropped below half time enrollment. So you might hear a lot of school, say, Well, it's when you graduate, but sometimes the student still has to take one more course right? And then that might be 3 to 4 units, and that's not half time so.
Once a student drops below half time, they enter the six month grace period on their federal loans, and then they are expected to start paying back their federal loans for Parent plus loan. There is. That repayment begins immediately. You can speak to the loan service search to see if you can request a deferment, but typical repayment for the Parent plus loan again is going to be once alone is dispersed. Then they're going to seek payment.
Dorothy Davidson
11:37:42 AM
Adam, they are awarded for four years. It will be renewed as long as you meet the SAP requirements. 2.0 GPA
Bryn Harris
11:37:59 AM
if the parent is a student also, receiving grad plus loans, can the parent also apply for parent plus loan?
On that loan, UM next is I am a dependent student on fasfa. However, my parents do not provide financial support to me. I support myself financially, file my own taxes. I live on my own. Can I be a dependant and not provide parents information? The answer is no. So you are considered a dependent student based on the dependency questions on the FAFSA. So when you're completing the 8 application.
Dorothy Davidson
11:38:27 AM
Bryan, yes the parent can also apply for the Parent Plus. The two do not impact each other.
There's a series of Yes and no questions they ask are you, are you 24 or older? If you're answering no, then you're still considered dependent in the federal government size. Even if you live on your own and support yourself. So I also was a student who I moved out when I was 18. However, I still had to put parent information on my 8 application so I can definitely sympathize with students who fit this situation. However, this is.
Lyka Sarmiento
11:38:46 AM
I am a CA resident but i transferred from an out of state college, however i did graduate from a high school in CA, do i not qualify for the CA grant?
This is a rule from the federal government, not from USF fan. You would still be considered dependent. It would need to put on your parent information there. Is. There are some instances when a student has a extenuating circumstance, so if there is something going on at home and you would like to speak with an aid administrator, definitely contact our office so we can see if you fit in any other circumstances for an appeal process.
Miray Vural
11:39:39 AM
How can I know if I would qualify for Federal work study?
Question if everything is OK with your family, so learn contact with them even though you are yourself supporting yourself, you're still considered a dependent student in the eyes of the federal government. Additional question. So on fasfa. Who do I include in my household and who do I include as attending in college? So on the fast. So when you're reporting your household size for parents, this is going to be anyone that you're supporting more than 50%.
Dorothy Davidson
11:39:58 AM
Miray, the FWS will be listed on your award offer letter.
So when you're completing the verification worksheet, this is one of the questions that we asked to confirm that members of the household and number in college are indeed accurate. So if you're supporting the member more than 50%, you can add them as a household member on the fasfa an as far as who do you include that include as attending college, so anyone in your household that is enrolled at least half time during that academic year.
Paulo Tiotuyco
11:40:32 AM
Can you explain how Parent Plus loan works?
Then you would be able to include them as attending college parents are not included in this calculation. So if the parent is in college, we would not be counting apparent as the in college total already. So next question is how many units are classes? Will I need to take each semester to use financial aid? So again we talked. We talked earlier that you need to take 16 units to graduate within four years.
Dorothy Davidson
11:41:05 AM
Paulo, please review here: https://studentaid.gov/understand-aid/types/loans/plus/parent
However, to be eligible for aid, the minimum you would you would want it would be 6 units. A lot of our aid will not disperse if a student is enrolled in less than 6 units, so the only aid would be federal Pell Grant for certainty ESC students. But again, that pill Grant Award is not going to be enough to cover what your bill is going to be for tuition for one class. So you really want to optimize your.
Aid offer and financial aid is prorated if you're in less than 12 units, so if you ever have questions or you're going to be taking a semester or you're taking fewer units, I encourage you to speak with financial aid so we can map that out for you and help you plan better.
Aydin Kayali
11:41:35 AM
Can we assume that the total amount received in aid and scholarships will be renewed annually if we provide all the documentation in October of each year?
Dorothy Davidson
11:41:51 AM
Aydin, you need to review by October 1st.
Uh, next when do I renew my 8 application? do I need to renew my financial aid application every year? We've talked about that a few times. Yes, you need to complete it comes out October 1st of every year and when do you renew them again October 1st so we should everyone should be filing their applications on time after this session. Is there a deadline to apply for financial aid or to accept my financial aid so there is the.
Hannah Lehmkuhl
11:42:02 AM
Do the scholarships and grants I was given for 2020-2021 carry over to the next 3 years at USF? Or are they re-evaluated after first year?
March 2nd deadline right, but if you haven't completed your aid application, you can still complete it. There's just some aid you may not be eligible for as far as accepting your aid offer. If a student never started school and never accepted their aid offer, I would think they might have been paying out of pocket because you need to have your bill paid. But let's say that that did happen. You can still accept your aid offer later. It's just that we can't guarantee.
Dorothy Davidson
11:42:30 AM
Hannah, as long as you meet the 2.0 requirement they will revew.
Dorothy Davidson
11:42:36 AM
*renew.
Isa Contreras
11:42:45 AM
How does a parent apply for a PLUS loan, sorry I missed the slide where Ms. Prince explained it
All types of aid if you accepted it too late. So for federal loans, for example, we have to have ample time to be able to process the loan and to confirm that we can disburse the loan within the needed time frame. So it's better to have your loans accepted early. Don't wait too long 'cause there are. There are some limits for students who wait till last minute, like the end of their semester to accept a that they decided they now need.
Dorothy Davidson
11:43:02 AM
Isa, see here for more information. https://studentaid.gov/understand-aid/types/loans/plus/parent
So we do ask that you plan ahead and let us know ahead of time so we can make sure that we're able to process all of your Aiden and make sure you have that in your hands.
Um, what is the best way to contact the financial aid office so?
Elena Yuen
11:43:17 AM
If a scholarship is offered for 2020-21, can I assume the same for the following years if SAP is met?
Dorothy Davidson
11:43:35 AM
Elena, yes you can assume that.
Right now, during this period of remote, of course we can't see you on campus yet, but ways to contact us would be an have a slide here of the different contact information for the various Department that we spoke about today. For financial aid, email and calling. So our financial aid appointment you are able to book virtual appointments either through zoom or by phone.
Ash Lumpkin
11:43:42 AM
If we decline the work study offer will our loan offer increase to absorb that cost?
Are books on our financial aid appointments until May 1st, however. So if you are needing to speak with someone before May 1st, you want to call or financial aid line again. Leave us a voicemail. We will return the voicemails back. Email is another way to contact us. There are financially appointments after May 1st. It's just then, no. There's there's a strong push to get in contact with their office. Our office is in high demand right now and we understand that.
Dorothy Davidson
11:44:19 AM
Ash, no the loans will not increase nor any other aid increase beside the Parent Plus amount that could be applied for.
Kiley Johnson
11:44:28 AM
Can you explain what 150% of polished program length means.
We're doing everything in our power to get back to our students. So phone email if you don't get someone on the phone. Leave a voicemail. We're checking it throughout the day and we're open from 8:30 to 5:00 PM Monday through Friday. On Wednesdays we do close at three. We have a staff meeting with our team, but other than that you're able to reach us during those regular business hours. Student accounts also has the same business hours as financial aid. They do also close Wednesdays at 3:00 o'clock for their staff meeting.
Dorothy Davidson
11:45:05 AM
Kiley, if your program is 4 years and 120 credits you could only attempt 180 credits and take 6 years.
You can reach them through email and they are also available by phone. Um and then student employment through email and by phone as well. So that is our presentation for today. I'm going to jump on to chat to see the questions that we have coming through. Let me see here.
Dennis Kim
11:45:30 AM
Does renewing FASFA applications mean we have to renew it this year, October 2020?
Already, so I'm just going to go through the chat, so bear with us while we go through some of these questions. And again, if you, if you have a specific question to your students file, I strongly recommend that you contact the financial aid office, emailing us, calling our Direct Line. I'll see what general questions will be able to answer.
Dorothy Davidson
11:45:50 AM
Dennis, yes you renew every year.
Annalise Gargarita
11:46:05 AM
Parent here. So far, lots of info to digest. Lori said the power point / webcast may be available to review?
Dorothy Davidson
11:46:19 AM
Yes, we will make it available.
So yeah, so does renewing your FAFSA application mean you have to renew it this year? So yes, in October 2020, the new FAFSA comes out, so you want to get ready to now complete the new 8 application that would be for next fall. So you yes, you need to renew every every year. So whether you decide to do that in October when it's available to you, or if you do it in January, I know some families do it in January.
Just depends when uhm OK.
Emerson Wright
11:46:32 AM
Hello. If school is still online only in the fall what happens to room and board cost?
Yes, so I know that this is a lot of information and we are going to have this presentation available on our financial aid website, so I'll have one of my assistant directors post it by Monday and of business, so that will be available for you. Also will make sure that these slides are available, yes.
Dorothy Davidson
11:47:01 AM
Emerson, if we are online we would not charge for room and board.
OK, so I know we have some questions regarding.
Isa Contreras
11:47:07 AM
How does a parent apply for a PLUS loan, sorry I missed the slide where Ms. Prince explained it
Let's see sorry. There's a lot of questions coming through.
Dorothy Davidson
11:47:18 AM
Isa, see here https://studentaid.gov/understand-aid/types/loans/plus/parent
Think Daddy is done it. Good job at answering so let me check in with daddy to see if she has anything for me.
Oh, and another thing that I want to touch on regarding the institutional aid. So that is honored for each semester. So the institutional aid that is offered on your financial aid award offer. That is for eight semesters. Again, the student needs to be meeting satisfactory academic progress, so as long as they maintain their academic progress, they are able to use their their institutional aid for eight semesters. If a student ever takes a break.
Boris Malykin
11:48:24 AM
Is it possible to pay feea with credit card?
Dorothy Davidson
11:48:43 AM
Boris, you can pay with a credit card.
From school you know it's really important that they make sure they're on a approved leave with the registrar's office that we were able to continue to renew their institutional aid when the student withdraws and is not on a approved leave, were not able to promise that institutional aid offer. So if a student is ever considering withdrawing from school or has questions come speak to financial aid, that's over here for to help you to walk you through to make to make the best.
Rain Sheh
11:48:49 AM
There is no application for Pell Grant. Right? If you don't see it on the offer, it means we aren't eligible. Correct?
Decision for yourself? Um, let's see here.
Dorothy Davidson
11:49:25 AM
Correct, you did not qualify if its not showing.
So as far as applying for campus jobs, I'm your first step for applying for campus jobs is to accept that award offer on your my USF account. So the first step is accepting the word offer. I'm not sure if students can apply for 2021 yet, but what I'll do is I will have my assistant director for student employment to update her website for student employment.
To give the date that students can start to apply. So I'll go back to this slide. This is where you're able to view student employment web page and I will have her put in notice if it's not already there to let students know when they can begin applying for work study positions for the 2021 year. So I will I'll meet with her tomorrow so we can get that updated for you guys.
Sarra El Chaar
11:50:26 AM
can I still apply for campus jobs if it was not offered as part of my aid offer
And tuition for as far as tuition payments. Uhm, you have to have the the payment completed within the four installments. So if you have more questions on the type of payment plans that are available and the different payment plan options you want to go on to the student account websites that they would be the experts in payment plans and they do a really great job at.
Dorothy Davidson
11:50:50 AM
Sarra, yes, can apply for student employment.
Putting all that information on their website, but there the payment plans are by semester, so you're not doing a payment plan for the full year of tuition. 'cause we're not billing for the full year or billing each semester, so you have to make sure that you're covering tuition each semester so there's no hold on the account and the payment plans that you're enrolling in our by semester, not for the year.
And one more thing for the cow grant that is for for California residents. So when we were discussing completing the California DREAM Act application and Cal Grant awards, that is for California residents. So if you obtain residency in California, yes, you would be able to apply for the Cal Grant. But if you're coming from out of state, you're not eligible right now, but if you do obtain California residency, then there is a way to.
Be considered for Cal Grant, so we do have a calgon coordinator in our office. You want to make sure you've you've established residency in California first though, so the California Grant, just like many other states, have their own state grant program. This is our state grant program for California residents.
An yes, so the deadline was March 2nd, so if you have missed that deadline, unfortunately you would not be considered for the 2021 at eight year. Now the application though there is no Cal Grant application per say. There's two components needed to be considered as a California resident, so number one is you complete your fasfa by March 2nd and #2 is that your GPA?
Megha Jain
11:52:35 AM
Any impact on tuition fees if classes are still online due to COVID-19?
Certification was submitted to the California student aid Commission, so there is no true an application for Cal Grant. It's completing your fast by March 2nd and then the submission of your GPA, so those are the two items needed in order to apply for Cal Grant. However, if you are a daca student, you do need to complete the DREAM Act application so. But as far as the regular Cal Grant for.
Dorothy Davidson
11:53:05 AM
Meghan, we plan to have classes on campus. That will be addressed if we find we will be online for fall.
US citizen permanent, not nonresident. All you do is you could put your fasfa.
Alrighty, let's see. So the difference between federal work study and campus based employment. The difference is federal work. Study is a need based award, so we offer it to students based on need. It. Is it so that that is considered like a federal fund that the government contributes in the end?
Anshyka Dhanda
11:53:50 AM
I got an updated financial offer in my email, however the update was not reflected on myUSF account, why is that?
And the institution contributes. Campus based employment. Is USF supporting 100% so students can be work and students can be offered campus based employment to work for USF and then the federal work study is a federal work study program.
Dorothy Davidson
11:54:03 AM
Anshyka, please contact our office.
Jason Wong
11:54:29 AM
Who do we contact if I have specific federal loan question? My son has already accepted the financial package on-line.
So that would be the difference if you don't meet the need factors, you would not have been offered a federal work study award. Instead you would have been offered a campus based employment award. Both the words can be accepted on your mind, USF and you just start applying for jobs on the student employment website. There's a link there that will send you to the different jobs that are available. Again, I need to verify win students can apply for 2021. I apologized.
Don't know that off the top of my head right now, however, I will make sure that that is posted on the website you guys are aware when you can begin to apply.
Dorothy Davidson
11:55:08 AM
Jason, please call us and leave a message if we do not answer and we will return your call.
And if you have a specific federal loan question and you would then either color office or email our office and will be able to to get in touch with you to answer those questions. Also, if you want to hold off on an book of financial aid appointment, just knowing that you're not, you likely won't be able to get ahold of us until after me first. You can also set up a financial aid appointment as well if it's a immediate question you have, you can.
Email us or give us a call during regular business hours.
Alrighty, so let me see the other questions.
Adam Patino
11:55:23 AM
How long are merit awards good for? All 4 years?
OK, so I think we've done a pretty good job.
Right, so the institutional aid again is for four years for eight semesters, students still have to maintain their eligibility by maintaining SAP, so all of those components are still needed in order for us to continue to offer the aid.
Dorothy Davidson
11:56:14 AM
Yes, all 4 years as long as you make a 2.0
OK, so I just want to correct something in the chat, so uh, tuition payments cannot be made with the credit card, so you cannot make tuition payments with a credit card to get more information on the types of payment methods that the institution accepts, you can go to the student accounts website, but at this time you're not able to pay tuition with a credit card.
Valerie Huizar
11:57:03 AM
Could you please clarify. The waiting period in regards to loose of income due to unemployment? You need to wait 3 months from the date a parent lost his job? Or three months after I start school?
OK, and let's see what else we have coming in.
Dorothy Davidson
11:57:45 AM
3 months from the loss of income.
So clarifying on winter, submit your appeal documentation. We are encouraging, uh, to wait until three months from when the loss of income happened. So, um, so if you would have lost your job in March or in April, or had a a.
A reduced income you want to wait from three months from when that last happened?
Andrea Polanco
11:58:02 AM
Is there a deadline to accept the financial offer
And that's just a way for us to demonstrate prolonged income loss, uhm?
Dorothy Davidson
11:58:31 AM
Andrea, no deadline but if the funds are needed for payment you need to do this ASAP.
So there is no deadline to accept your financial aid offer. Um, however, any aid that is not accepted cannot be authorized to be applied to the bill. So it's really important that if you are needing those funds to be applied to your bill, that you're accepting the aid so it can be done as soon as possible an applied if you don't accept the aid.
It doesn't show up on student accounts, and they are assuming that you don't have the aid than to cover your billing. So as soon as you've made a decision and you know that you want that aid to help pay for your tuition and fees, you should be accepting that.
Victoria Baroody
11:59:01 AM
Also, is on campus housing guaranteed after the first year?
Dorothy Davidson
11:59:40 AM
No, it is not guaranteed.
OK, so as far as I'm on campus housing, you want to go on to if you go to your my USF, go to the share website on campus. Housing is not guaranteed after the first year, so they give more information on that as well as the stats on how many students still live on campus after their first.
Here, but that would be through share. Uhm, so you would want to if you just go onto your my USF account and you search housing then you are able to view more information from our shared Department. But no, it is not guaranteed.
Already in just again, institutional aid is for eight semesters, so that's four years. Did see we had a few questions regarding that, so just confirming I'm in student student. Still need to maintain their satisfactory academic progress to continue to be eligible for that award.
An payment plans in case anyone missed the payment plans are due on the 1st of every month and they have the most installments you can beyond depending on when you enrolled in the payment plan is for four months. So for for monthly installments. So to get more information you can also refer to the student accounts website, but it is only for four installments.
Robert Garcia
12:01:36 PM
What is the required date to enroll?
OK, so as far as families who are asking questions regarding appeals and the type of information we would be needing if you had. If you were furloughed or if you had a reduction of hours or pay, we need a statement from your employer explaining whether you were let go from work when that happened or when the reduction.
Dorothy Davidson
12:01:58 PM
Robert, the deposit should be submitted by May 1st.
Dorothy Davidson
12:02:18 PM
Any housing questions need to be directed to housing.
Of income occured so if that was through a form of email or letter that you received, we would need that as supporting documentation. If your income loss habit happened in 2019, you would actually provide us with the letter from your employer as well as your 2019 tax information. If it's in 2020, we need your pay stubs. If you're applying for unemployment benefits, we would need confirmation of that as well. We don't include employment benefits as.
Elly Encell
12:02:29 PM
Did you see my question from a few minutes ago? When you say institutional aid do you mean scholarship only or do you mean both scholarship + tuition grant?
The earned income calculation, but just trying to get the whole picture of the family circumstance.
Dorothy Davidson
12:02:45 PM
Elly, scholarships and grants from USF.
Taijen Ave-Lallemant
12:02:52 PM
Do we apply for a separate Parent Plus loan for each year or sememster, or once for all 4?
Dorothy Davidson
12:03:04 PM
Yes, you must apply each year.
So institutional aid is scholarship and grant anything that is being anything that's coming from USF. For federal aid, there also is there are limits on federal grants. So like the federal Pell Grant, the government only allows 600% of usage. So that equates to six years of usage. So there are also limits to the amount of federal grant you can receive. The amount of federal.
Freya Morel-Seytoux
12:03:13 PM
Assuming the student maintains good grades/standing at USF, are any circumstances in which the merit aid would be reduced for following years?
Loans you can receive the limits limits do apply to all aid.
Dorothy Davidson
12:03:27 PM
No, it would not be reduced.
Gianna Cosio
12:03:38 PM
if we choose to waive medical insurance due to dependent coverage, will that reduce tuition cost?
Aids that we would that would ever be reconsidered would be the University grant. So the the University tuition grant is need based, right? So if the families need drastically increased, then that would be a circumstance that we may need to reconsider the offer that we are giving for that year. If the families income did drastically ryzan now they no longer meet the eligibility for that need based grant.
Dorothy Davidson
12:04:18 PM
Tuition does not reduce but your overall cost would be reduced. Insurance is not tuition.
So for for for our institution the University tuition grant is need based, so that would be the only thing that ever would be reconsidered to be reduced. Merit aid is not reduced.
And someone had asked if you waive the medical insurance. Will that reduced tuition and the medical insurance is not a part of the tuition and fees, so it's not going to reduce that were not including that in our tuition and fee cost.
Daniela Ibarra
12:05:18 PM
What is the amount of health insurance fee?
So as far as private loans and even the Parent plus loan, the Parent plus loan credit check is good for six months. So if you wanted to start applying for the Parent plus loan now you can definitely proceed to do that.
Same thing with, uh, same thing with your private loans if you wanted to to get a head start on that, you just want to confirm with the lender if there's any limitations of you applying early, so private loans are a little bit trickier because it depends on the private loan lender. As far as federal loan, we can definitely say that you can apply for that plus loan. Now 'cause you're within that time frame where your.
Dorothy Davidson

That has not been finalized but it will be a bit over $3000 for the year.
Where your where your credit is not going to expire, but for private loans you want to check with your private loan lender that you're going to select to apply with.

Will my FAFSA award be added to University Tuition Grant and Transfer Academic Scholarship? or Am I not qualified for Pell Grant?
Dorothy Davidson
12:06:28 PM
If the Pell Grant is not listed, you do not qualify.
An merit aid does not increase, So what you've been offered on from admissions that's your Merit Award. So if you end up getting a higher GPA or not reevaluating merit, but whatever you were offered, that is your Merit Award.

Where do we obtain the documents for the federal loans?
So to obtain documents for the federal loans, first you can accept the students subsidized and unsubsidized loan on their my USF account. You complete the master promissory note and the entrance loan counseling on studentaid.gov. If you're inquiring about the parent loan that is also applied for on studentaid.gov, so you go to studentaid.gov and there is a section for you to complete the Parent plus loan.
And again, parent plus loan is the parent applying for the loan. It's not the student applying for the loan in their name.
And the parent needs to be the one completing the loan application process, not student.

When do I receive the cal Grant B?
Daddy just placed at the Lincoln for studentaid.gov so full information on federal loans you can go to that to that link. The government recently consolidated all of their student websites until one, so now students just go to studentaid.gov on There you are able to apply for FAFSA. Complete your loan application, complete your loan entrance counseling. Also, if you want to know information on loan fees, loan interest rate.
Offing student aid, you just go to this website now.

12:08:16 PM
The cal grant should show on your award offer.
Keegan Atac
12:08:24 PM
also my question above.....what the financial offer at the portal right now....is that the final?
So if you are a Cal Grant be recipient, uhm, you should have that award displaying on your award offer up if it is not then go ahead and inquire with our with our financial aid office, through email or by phone and will be able to see what's going on there.
Dorothy Davidson
12:08:44 PM
Keegan, yes the information in the portal is the final offer.
So is your financial see here.

Can I take classes at a community college and have those credits transferred to USF or do I need to take all classes at USF?
So if a student continues their education on after their undergrad and they're going to continue on, then as long as they are enrolled at least half time, then their loans can continue to remain in the in school deferment.
Fuguan O'Brien
12:09:26 PM
If federal unsubsidized aid is declined this year, will it jeopardize future federal aid requests for later academic year? the reason being is the high-interest rate.
Dorothy Davidson
12:09:56 PM
Jenny, yes you can transfer classes but you must ensure the class will count towards your degree program.
So if a student defers for one year is the same financial aid available. So we can't guarantee the same institutional aid that we offered initially as far as your federal aid well, then that would be based on the new financial aid application. So if you defer for to fall 2021. That's a new application, so depending on what your expected family contribution is on that application that.
Can definitely change the aid that would then be offered to you.
Dorothy Davidson
12:10:10 PM
Fuguan, if will not impact future years.
But we're not able to guarantee the same institutionally that was offered to you on on this current award.
Already, so we have about 5 more minutes, so any further questions, be sure to ask them here or you can reach directly to our financial aid office again, by phone or through email. Let's see here.
So any questions regarding housing? Uhm I really.
Brennan Ffrench
12:10:52 PM
Is it fair to assume that if my sibling enrolls in college next year, since my expected family contribution would then be cut in half, that I would receive additional institutional aid?
Strongly advise that you uhm contact the student housing so you can go onto my USF search engine and then review to see what their contact information is, and ask those questions regarding housing specific directly to them to make sure you're getting the most accurate information.
So we're not able to give estimates on.
What aid would be in the future? So I think Brennan, Let's see.
Dorothy Davidson
12:11:28 PM
Brennan, typically it would not increase your institutional aid. You would need to contact the office when this happens.
Correct, so we wouldn't be increasing institutionally, so institutional aid wouldn't increase year to year. What is offered in your first year is what the institution is committing to the student. Unless again, family income drastically increases, then we may need to re re assess the amount that we've committed for the University tuition grant giving that that is a need based award.

What's the deadline to apply for outside scholarships and does the office of financial aid help with that?
OK, so how to accept your aid? If you go to your my USF and go to our financial aid home page. If you scroll all the way to the bottom, there is a video on how to accept your aid offer. Dot E also included.
The instructions, but you can also look on our website if you would like a visual. There's a video that will show you how to accept those awards online.
Dorothy Davidson
12:12:57 PM
The outside scholarships have their own deadlines.
So the deadline to apply for outside scholarships. There's no deadline you can apply for it outside scholarships throughout the year. If you ever find an outside scholarship or have questions on some on some tips on how to apply, our website has that information, but you can always call in to speak with us, but each outside scholarship has their own deadline, so there's no standard deadline. So if there's the scholarship available.
Apply for it if you find it later on in the year. Just let her office know and we're happy to help process that for you.

Is the award offer I got for 2020-2021 about what I'll receive the three years after this?
So the Parent plus loan on you can apply.
Reveur it annual know pretty immediately if you're approved or not. If you are denied on the Parent plus loan, there is a endorser process, so if you wanted to see if you can get approved by adding a endorser, a cosigner on the Parent plus loan, there is a process at the federal government allows for that, so if you're not sure if you would be approved for a parent plus loan, you could definitely begin the process. If a parent is denied on the Parent plus loan.
Dorothy Davidson
12:14:11 PM
Hannah, yes, that should be what you receive for the next 3 years. Your loan eligibility will increase from $1K to $2K.
They are eligible. The student then becomes eligible for an additional 4000 in their unsubsidized loan, so if you don't get approved for that Parent plus loan, there is still an option for the student to obtain a bit more aid in their unsubsidized loan.
